The FOBISIA MUN conference theme: Global Inequality
This year's conference theme, 'Global Inequality', finds its origins in the UN millennium goals. Thirteen years have progressed since the official establishment
of the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – which range from halving
extreme poverty rates to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal
primary education; all by the target date of 2015. All 189 United Nations member states
and at least 23 international organizations have agreed to achieve these goals
by the year 2015, and the advancements made by different nations and
organizations over the years have differed markedly. At this year’s FOBISIA MUN conference, with a firm reflective stance, we will re-evaluate the global successes and drawbacks encountered, regarding the MDGs. We will assess what the world has achieved to reduce disparity and make equal what is unequal. After all, the UN have galvanized unprecedented efforts to meet the needs of the world's poorest. Likewise, we aspire to avoid perpetual recycling of ideas and resolutions. Our fundamental goal is to depute our delegates to venture in an innovative and prospective approach. Ultimately with copious ambition, we aim to explicate what has past, and envisage the approaching future.
